One of my goals with A Writer's Voice is to develop a community of writers by sharing experiences, advice and the work of others.
One way I would like to do this is by having a community post writing prompt. I've been reading a lot of blogs lately, and this question keeps running through my mind:
Why do you write?
I hope you take the time to post a response and help me achieve my goal of a writing community.

So many reasons, but here's a good one: secretly I write for my daughters, so that someday when I'm gone there will be a quiet part of me still there for them on the page, a soft voice that lets them know that they have never been, and will never be, alone.
I write to communicate to people about my idea's. As a youngster I dreamed of being a novelist. Perhaps one day I will be. For now most of my writing is either for public speaking purposes or my blog.
I'm not the greatest wordsmith, but like all things practice will bring improvement.
I write because there's something very cathartic for me in penning down what's going on in my head. It's like a creative release that just feels so right. Plus I feel like it leaves my little stamp on the world (however big or small that is). With my blog I write because I really want to write novels, and I think blogging is good writing practice to parlay into that.
I write because I've read lots of books and discovered writers leave a really nice feeling on me: I realized I understood the magic of their art, so I try to create some sort of that magic. I also think that, as every author has a personal style, they have a personal "magic".
My blog is about writing too, go check it out! www.mkjazzqueen.blogspot.com
It is about my school essays for my ESL class, I take them seriously because I wish to become a serious writer someday, or at least write as a hobby, because, as I said before, I want to be able to create that magic. I'm trying to develop and uncover MY magic, inspired by all the great writers around me, and I'm hoping to finish my lovely "masterpiece", which I'm currently writing.
Thanks for the task, it made me think and discover a lot! : )
I write because it gives me a chance to show my thought and feelings in a world that is so busy today. It gives me a chance to share a bit of what I've learned and hopefully help some others out along the way. Wisdom is learning thru the experience of others and I hope to impart a little wisdom in the process!
It's dramatic to say that I'll die if I don't. But truly, a small part of me would wither.
